I knew there was a reason
It is my firm belief that there is reason and purpose as to why things happen a certain way in this life. And there was a reason as to why I was born in a time when pulling a hand cart wasn't something that would EVER be asked of me. Because the truth is I would not have made it. I would have been one of those pioneer women who gave up less than a mile into the trip. Better yet, I would have been one of those women who gave up as soon as she saw the mode of transportation she would be using. With all that said this will be me and Dallan in a matter of days! Who says God doesn't have a sense of humor? Everyone please start praying now.

I would be giving up right along with you. I would never had made it as a pioneer. good luck on your trek!
He, he, he! I don't know Mandee, I would think a combination of dirt, physical labor, lack of running water, no shopping for miles, and killing your own livestock would be right up your alley. Hmm, maybe I never really knew you;-P.
Good luck!
My worse nightmare. I believe in you Mandee, I believe that you will do great and then you will share with us how much you loved it. I will pray for you just in case I am wrong.
How exciting! I can't wait to hear about it!! But I'm with you...I would have laid down in the trail and let myself die. The pioneers were some kind of super humans.
girl, you crack me up! Tyler went while I was pregnant with Coleton and sick as can be. He was the head photographer. You should see this amazing video that our friend (head videographer) put together for the stake. I made the DVD label and cover - that is the extent of my trek experience. Just watching the video changed my whole view of the pioneers. I have no pioneer ancestors (even though my dad is the first member in our family - he never pulled a hand cart - well not until next week anyway) but the pioneers are my spiritual ancestors. Their testimonies were even stronger than their bodies. Amazing. Have fun, Share photos!
Whoo hoo for you and Dallan! Sounds like more fun than I could stand! Good luck to you both. The youth in our ward had an awesome time (although they each made a comment about the many, many ticks covering their bodies...) and the leaders that went seemed totally uplifted by the experience. It probably helped that the trek was cancelled a day early because some kid hid in the forest for a day and a half!
Have fun!
Let me know how it went, I think it is great!! You will have a great experience. PS - Your kids are sooo cute.

I cannot beleive you signed up? Did Dallan sign up and tell you later or is it because of your calling. Anyway, (He He Ha Ha) Have fun! For the the hardest thing would be to wear the dress. I too would love to see pictures. Honestly I bet you will learn a lot and have a deeper appreciation and I agree it will be a testimony builder :) Have fun
I'm so jealous!!!! We were supposed to be a Ma and Pa for the trek in Bremerton a few years ago but then I got pregnant with Benjamin and they wouldn't let a pregnant lady go. (As if there weren't pregnant pioneer women!) ):
Anyway, I really think you're going to enjoy it more than you'll realize. I went when I was in YW and it provided memories that will last throughout my life. Give us a report as soon as you return! Good luck!!!!
