Two Words I Have Come to Loath

"WHAT IF".....here are just a few....

1. What if we can't sell our home in Idaho
2. What if we can't rent our home in Idaho
3. What if we run out of money and we can't pay both mortgages then what??
4. What if the housing prices increase and we missed an opportunity to buy a great house at a great price.
5. What if we never see a 5.5% interest rate again
6. What if we wait too long and then we can't afford to move into the neighborhood we want
7. What if the whole world goes to heck and no one can afford a home
8. What if the house in Idaho NEVER sells or no one EVER wants to rent it
9. What if we rent and waste all our money and then can't buy a house
10. What if we (me and the kids) just move back to Rexburg by ourselves
11. What if I go crazy because we can't make a decision...who will then raise our children?
12. What if we don't go and get our furniture now but end up needing it in a couple months? How will the movers get our stuff packed in all that snow?
13. What if a pipe breaks in the Rexburg house and no one is there to notice it

You think I am kidding but I AM NOT! That is just a sampling of the questions that have been asked OVER and OVER during the last few WEEKS. Same questions...same replies....I DON'T KNOW!!! So after ALL that drama and $3000 in earnest money we have decided NOT to buy the house on Evergreen. So Evergreen...so long....so long to your...garden tub and gas range and lastly (with a tear creeping down my face) I have to say farewell to the carpet that feels like clouds. I think we could have been happy together but the bottom line is...There were just too many WHAT IF'S!

the housing market is going to take quite a while to recover. at least that is what the experts say and since Tyler is a CFP, we have lots of experts to be around - some of the top guys in the world. JP Morgan, etc. So while it may have some ups and downs. I doubt you are running out of time to get the house you want at the price you want. It will be a buyer's market for quite a while.

There should be lots of people willing to rent a house in Rexburg - It's a college town. But then again, would you really want to rent your home to college kids?

i think you made the right choice. i don't know how you would afford two houses! i know how you feel with so many insecurities over this move and your future - and so many things up in the air. sometimes it sucks so bad that we have to learn things the hard way sometimes. i can't tell you how much we have had to in the past!

NO WORRIES! Don't get me wrong, Carpet that feels like clouds.. Hmm,that does seem wonderful but at least you have someone by your side figuring out the "what if's" with you. There is light at the end of the tunnel. Goodness knows it sometimes does not seem that way but I just know that something wonderful is waiting around the corner for you guys. I love you all.

Tiffant...I would take ANYONE at this point. Okay not anyone but mostly anyone. And stephanie I feel guilty complaining around you seeing all you have to deal with. I am thankful I have someone to share the burden with and I love and appreciate your good attitude even when things look impossible. I need to take lessons from you in that department. Could you teach me how you do that???

Carrying two mortgages is really tough - been there & done that! I won't try to leave you all smiles today (for that would probably make you gag), but I will borrow a "tag" from a blogger that I've come to love:
"No moment from my God is a rock of burden, it's just a rock waiting to be broken apart into stepping stones." - Our prayers are with you all!

Oh I am so so sorry. I hope that your decision is somewhat of a relief even if it was so terribly hard to let go of. I hate What If's...they make like so uneasy. Go eat some ice cream and don't worry about any of it for an afternoon.

Great advice Emily thanks!

yes sherri! A cruel, cruel joke! I go back to Rexburg just time for the winter and come back to arizona just in time for the blistering heat of the summer. Something is wrong with my timing!

I feel your pain and can only imagine how frustrating and insecure of a feeling that would be. I do think you're wise to wait on buying the other house and you never know, things happen for a reason. Maybe there's something better for you guys waiting just around the corner......

I was very sad when we put a competing offer on another home that we really wanted and they picked the other offer. I actually cried about it. But then I remembered that I had prayed for His will and that gave me hope and filled me with peace. I know He wants what's best for you and what will make you the MOST happy. Sometimes we think WE know what that will be but we're not always looking at the whole picture.

In looking back I'm now grateful for NOT getting that house I thought I wanted so badly.....if they had accepted our offer we never would have found this place that we're in now which in comparison is SO much better. I'm sure it will be the same for you.....you just have to give it time and then one day you'll be saying the same thing.

Sorry for the long comment, I hope I didn't sound too preachy. (:

Love you.
